Skincare is such a finicky topic that can get overwhelming, FAST. There are millions of ads for the latest and greatest in skincare technology promising to cure acne, reduce redness, turn back time and rewind your skin to its baby perfection. And while I have certainly spent an incredible amount of time and money on these promises (some of which I have had success with, others absolute failure) what I come back to over and over again are the natural remedies that have been around forever.
My favorite at home skin care mixtures are all honey-based and can be used with varying frequency depending on how they work for your skin type! Remember, there is no one size fits all so pay attention to what works and doesn't work for you specifically. That being said all of these recipes are referring to RAW HONEY (all Honey Trust honey is raw) not commercial honey which is often blended with fillers.
1. BASIC MASK
Honey naturally pulls moisture into your skin and its antibacterial properties help to prevent breakouts to leave you glowing.
TRY IT: ok, so this is literally as basic as it gets. smooth one teaspoon of raw honey over your face and allow to sit for 15-20 minutes. Gently wipe off using warm (but not hot) water and a washcloth.
2. NATURAL EXFOLIANT
Honey is loaded with antioxidants, enzymes, and other nutrients that nourish, cleanse, and hydrate skin. Baking soda, meanwhile, is a gentle natural exfoliator that removes dead skin cells, allowing new cells to emerge for a radiant complexion.
TRY IT: Mix two tablespoons honey with one tablespoon baking soda. Splash your skin with water, then gently rub the concoction on your face or body in a circular motion. Rinse well.** WOMENS HEALTH
3. BREAKOUT MASK
I love this mask for when my skin is feeling a little rough and needs a pick me up. TEST a small patch first before applying to your face because Cinnamon can be surprisingly strong and you want to make sure you aren't overstimulating your skin (apply mixture and wait 15-20 min, wash off and check for redness)
TRY IT: Mix 1 teaspoon of cinnamon with 2 teaspoons of raw honey. Heat and apply to face avoiding eye area. Allow to sit for no more than 20 minutes and gently remove with lukewarm water.
4. RESET MASK
I saved the best for last! This mask is incredible for tightening, brightening, and toning your skin for when you just need to hit the reset. And the best part is, chances are you have the ingredients already.
TRY IT: separate 1 egg white from the yolk, slice a lemon wedge, and add one teaspoon of raw honey. Mix together until light and frothy. Apply evenly to face and allow mask to dry completely (20 minutes). Use cold water to rinse mask off (the cold will seal the pores).
